5 Great Reasons the First Amendment Should Be Abolished

People, people, people…  I promised myself I was going to stop reading the news.  Why?  Because I felt as if it was driving me insane.  Reading all the negativity, the hyperbole in the constantly spun rhetoric dripping out of the mouths of pundits like shit gobbled up ever-so-enthusiastically off of paper plates spray painted silver; and always hearing about what stupid thing some politician said, even though said politician is a hypocrite.

Sarah Palin.  It’s nice to see she’s so popular amongst conservatives, but I cannot understand why people take her seriously.  Here is a person who basically quit her job to pursue bigger and better things (because it is much more lucrative making money talking out of your ass than it is serving your people for the full term you ran for).  Whilst I’m no longer fond of President Obama, I really must say that Palin, in her most recent episode of letting her mouth do too much of the talking for her asshole, clearly has no concept of how organizations run.  In Palin’s view, Obama should be omniscient.  Of course, the IRS scandal happened on his watch.  If it wasn’t on his watch, it would have been on someone’s watch.  And even though the Congressional hearings on Benghazi have yielded little in the way of fruit, if anything, concerning the conspiracy to cover-up what actually occurred, people like Palin are still pushing the prevalent story.  Why? The Way of the Politician: Begging of the Takers

I’m no politician or political expert. I’m just a simple black man with a lot of time on his hands. For the most part, I’m just as lost as most when it comes to the nature of the American political system.

I’ve been avoiding the news for the last few weeks because, quite honestly, I believe the media is killing me.  Everything negative I see in the news is growing my cynicism.  Of course I’m letting it affect me.  I feel almost as if I can’t escape it.  The media is something akin to an emotional vampire, steadily siphoning our emotional reserves, and bringing us closer and closer to apathy.

And we let them.

Even so, they do bring up some things that just make me want to pull out the baby powder and pimp slap the hell out of a politician.

Science and Other Heresies

Good day, everyone.

You know, I have a problem.  My problem is science.  See, I’m a Christian, and I believe the Word of God is inspired by God and is, therefore, inerrant (by which I mean perfect and without error).  That said, I believe that there is something fundamentally wrong with our nation.

Science is the reason that God hates America.  Why, were it not for our ignorance as to the workings of the Universe, I believe that God would not be so angry with us.  We have gone too far in placing the sciences before God.  Science is folly.  Never mind that it’s science that has given me the ability to write this post.  Never mind that it’s science that allows for the expedient import of the coffee I so love.  Never mind that it’s science that helps me find the places I’ve never been to in the city in which I live without having to become a cartographer.  That’s all a smoke screen.  The truth is, science goes against God. The hoe gets a bad rap. Nah’mean?  From Fat Joe’s “Make it Rain” to Katt Williams‘ portrayal of a midget pimp in one of the “Friday” movies, hoes have been seen as nothing more than simple tools, objectified and subject to the twisted proclivities of men.  Even so, the word hoe has finally seen its last days as the main derogatory exclamation aimed at this special class of the used and abused.

America, this is the problem:  hoes don’t get enough love.  But thanks to the likes of people who aspire to be “musicians”, like Nicki Minaj, hoes have found their way back into the limelight!

Howdy everyone!  I trust that your day is as great as mine is so far.

You know, every now and then, I turn on the television I no longer actually have a need for (thus my lack of cable or a digital converter box), and I stare for long moments at the snowy screen.  I stare at said screen and I imagine watching yet another news story about the death of a young black man that was killed for doing nothing other than being young, black, unarmed, and minding his own business.   If you put all those together, do you know what you get?  You get downright, shit your pants frightening.  I mean, nothing’s scarier than young black men, unarmed, minding their own business.  Except for maybe Lindsey Lohan selling her clothing.  That doesn’t bode well for any of us.

Well, people, I’ve been inspired to preach to my young black brothers about how not to be that guy.  You know, the guy that gets shot while doing nothing at all but being frightening (by which I mean young, black, unarmed, and minding his own business).

But, We Knew it was Fool's Gold, Didn't We?

Good day, America.

Listen, I’ve noticed, as most of you have, a very disturbing trend, this thing that happens whenever there is a great tragedy.  From the Westboro Baptist Church, to various other far, far right leaning peoples, the onus seems to be placed on either God, the lack/absence of God, the devil, and the homosexual lifestyle for many of the major events and cataclysms that have ailed us.

Recently, as you all know, a young man, surname Lanza, felt it necessary to not only kill his mother, and several other adults, but to murder innocent children who could not have possibly had any connection to any problems he had or did not have.  I am saddened that there was such a loss of life.  People, especially children, should not have to die in this manner, and should have the chance to live long, fruitful lives.  It is heartbreaking, and downright cruel.  That said, let us get down to the root causes (as there are sure to be many) of why this atrocity occurred.

Our problem is not the absence of God in our schools.  Were that the case, as so many others have already pointed out time and time again, there would be no crimes of this nature or various others that occurred in churches.  Don’t believe me?

An Epiphany of Greed: Ask Not What Your Country Can do for You

You know, there are some things about my country that I love.  For instance, I have freedom of speech, so when I feel the need to trash talk in some online forum, I can do so without government secret police knocking at my door, taking me from my home, throwing me in some CIA black site prison, and torturing me until I confess to being a witch.  I have a somewhat fair justice system that won’t convict me of a crime without a somewhat fair trial unless I happen to be so black that I fit the description by default.  I can become virtually anything that I would like to become so long as I have the money to get the education to do so, or as long as I have the talent.  I can start a business, I can do any number of things I want to do.  I can even become president.

There are some things that I very much dislike about my country, however.  The latest is Lloyd “Dr. Evil” Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, and his disturbing statement that to solve the debt problem, we have to reduce our expectations.  To reduce the tax burden on the country as a whole, poor and disenfranchised people (who, let’s face it, are most of us), have to accept cuts in so-called “entitlements” (let’s not forget that we pay into these so-called “entitlements”).  That is, if you’re not wealthy, and all you have coming to you is a piddling social security check and some paltry Medicare/Medicaid benefits, you have to accept getting by with less because, the truth is, in the eyes of these high powered CEOs and the politicians who cater to their every whim like a cuckold who knows he is being screwed but is too stupid to walk out the door, you are nothing beyond a burden to the system, despite the fact that YOU are the one supporting said system, and YOU are the one who is broke because of it.

We have to lower our expectations.  Right.  You can no longer expect your government to make sensible fiscal decisions because your government is run by CEOs who are on corporate welfare.  You can no longer expect a decent system of education, health, environmental protection or any other social safety net which, at best, helps people with the minimal human right of simple survival.  Your taxes are going to be increased not because you can necessarily afford it and because the burden is too great for people who do have money, people like Blankfein; they will increase because the people that can afford a higher tax burden are less concerned with people, and more concerned with profits.

Call me wrong, if you like, but capitalism is not an economic system that is conducive to the relief of the economy and the betterment of those who simply cannot afford to live like fat cats; capitalism is an economic system that is most often meant to help the wealthy become wealthier by depriving the poor of whatever they can deprive them of.  Oh, and do not think that, if you are in the middle class, you are getting off so light.

They want to increase the defense budget with money the Department of Defense has not even asked for, for wars that we should not even be fighting, but they could care less about education and the fact that we are somewhere between 17th and 25th in the world for understanding of math and science (of course, because Republicans have their own math and God don’t like science).  They demonize China every chance they get, yet these are the same people who have plants operating in China (Apple) and outsource jobs to India (Directv).

The US Government habitually overpays for the most menial services on top of paying for the tax breaks of corporations with such grand bottom-lines that the denizens of Mt. Fucking Olympus would be jealous of the ancient-Grecian imperial opulence these men and women are able to afford.

We treat our veterans like garbage; we treat the elderly as if their lives have run their courses before they’re even in the fucking grave; and we treat the poor as if they simply do not want to do anything to help themselves, meanwhile, Veterans have to live with missing limbs, mental disorders, and any number of conditions that can result from just being in the military, let alone being deployed to a battlefield; the elderly are going back to work when they should be taken care of because, quite frankly, they have done just as much for this country as the Veterans have by busting their asses day in and day out for peanuts; and the poor are scraping by, trying to do nothing more than provide for their families, even to the exclusion of their own likely declining health because some poor are too poor to afford more than enough food for their children, so they have to starve.

Just look around you and tell me the truth.  Are the government and these corporations really doing anything to benefit you or are they doing more to benefit themselves and increase the size of their coffers despite your contribution to a system that could obviously not give one iota of a flying fuck about you (even though one iota of a flying fuck is free), the very same system that would not be possible without you and that affords these greedy bastards whatever they want of heaven?

Look around.  Take a long, hard, honest look and tell me the truth about what you see.  If you can tell me I am wrong (and I challenge you to do so), I will gladly renounce my citizenship in acknowledgment of my error.

Anonymous vs. Israel – the Revolution that Never Was

It is comforting to know that there are people out there willing to fight for what is right. What is discomforting, however, is the posturing of glory hounds who want too desperately to be heroes and recognized.

I am talking about Anonymous, a global group of “hackers” and activists who tend to pop up whenever there is some sort of major conflict or injustice in the world.

I, personally, have mixed feelings about Anonymous. One part sees them as heroes and revolutionaries. The logical part, however, sees how ineffective they tend to be. What they have done to this point has not amounted to any great change in the world. From working with Wikileaks to show the corruption of corporations like Stratfor, as well as the US government, to now going head to head with Israel’s IT infrastructure, Anonymous has participated in plenty of noble efforts. My favorite was their operation against SOPA/PIPA – Operation Blackout  – when they, along with many major corporations, worked to inform the people about SOPA/PIPA and to bring the ire of the people to the attention of the US Congress and Senate. In fact, I would venture to say that Anonymous played a key role in the government shelving SOPA/PIPA (if not killing it off altogether).  Another great thing they did was go after some underground pedophiles in Operation Against Pedophilia.

With their successes, however, came many disappointments. When it came to their declaration of war on a Mexican drug cartel, Anonymous acted bravely, at first. Of course, the cartel is not the same thing as a group of politicians. The cartel’s main body of work has nothing at all to do with the internet, and it is not likely their operations would be disturbed. The Mexican government probably has loads of information on the cartels in Mexico, same as the US’ DEA, ATF, FBI, DHS, and maybe even the CIA. There is no point in “doxxing” the cartels because the information is already available to the people that can actually do something with it. That said, the disappointment lay in their cowering before the cartel’s threats of copious amounts of physical harm to any Anonymous member they could find. The revolutionaries do indeed fear death, regardless of how powerful they believe themselves to be.

Now it is Anonymous vs. Israel, and so far, the posturing and grandiose statements about “expecting them” are proving to be little more than verbal contrivances which will only have the unintended consequence of going completely ignored. That is to say, Israel could care less. Israel, a technological hub – with technology being its only real export – is likely prepared for scenarios that play out like what Anonymous is attempting to do. That is to say, Israel was already probably expecting them, and Israel probably has enough redundancies built into their infrastructure to circumvent any noble effort Anonymous makes in slowing the inexorable machine of murder that is the Israeli armed forces.

I am no fan of Israel; the government (not to be confused with the people) seems to be searching for excuses to do more harm to Palestine, even as they recognize that there are cells within Palestine that have nothing to do with the Palestinians themselves. For all Anonymous’ efforts, though, the elements in the US Government are still probably committing atrocities somewhere, the Mexican drug cartels’ businesses are still booming and proving to be recession-proof, and key members of the Bush administration, despite overwhelming evidence of war crimes, have yet to be brought to the Hague before a war crimes Tribunal.

Meanwhile, Israel is still killing innocent civilians. Just reported by Anderson Cooper, a house they suspected to be the residence of a Hamas leader was not, in fact, the residence of said Hamas leader, and 10 more innocent lives have been lost… Because of a mistake. Let’s assume that Israel made the mistake because they don’t have access to information that they had prior to Anonymous’ “intervention”; one could argue that attempting to strip Israel of its IT and Communications infrastructure will likely only result in Israel blindly firing into a crowd, which means more deaths. Israel obviously does not care, so long as they hit somebody.  And do not get me wrong; Hamas has committed its own atrocities.  There is blood on the hands of leaders from both sides, and innocent people on both sides are suffering for it.  Why?  Because our governments are weak, incompetent, and spineless representatives of a people that seemingly cannot think for themselves.

I am on the verge of admiring Anonymous. I do not in any way believe that they are a terrorist organization because, the truth is, terrorist organizations, by their very definition, are attempting to affect politics by way of the use of TERROR. Simply put, Anonymous does not fit the description of terrorist organization. You do not believe me? Find a random IT guy and ask him if he’s afraid of Anonymous. He’ll probably laugh at you, then proceed to explain why Anonymous is nothing to be afraid of.

I am on the verge of admiring Anonymous, but so far they’re falling short of the mark.  What they lack is a leader with an actual vision.  I know this is the point; to not have a centralized union so as not to hamper their activist efforts, but there doesn’t ever seem to be an actual goal.

Your virtue is almost showing through; I am still expecting you, Anonymous. Talk is cheap.  Show up.

The New World Order – Why it Will Never Be

Ladies and gentlemen, I have some good news for some of you, and some bad news for the rest of you.

The New World Order…

…will never exist.

“But, Mr. King, how could you possibly know this?  I mean, with the corruption of the top 1%, and the steps the US Government is taking with regards to the restriction of freedoms, how could there not be an NWO in the works?”

Incompetence.

Government bureaucracies are incompetent.  What do I mean?  What I mean is, they cannot perform the simplest tasks without lines of red tape.  They sniff the stuff like cocaine off Tony Montana’s hairy ass.  The UN is not the harbinger of the NWO, the EU is not the harbinger of the NWO, and the US is not the harbinger of the NWO.  Neither is China.

FACT: you’re more likely to be struck by lightning, twice, on the same day, in the same hour, and survive both strikes, while simultaneously being legitimately or illegitimately raped by Todd Akins as he’s taking the inaugural oath than you are to be subjugated by such incompetent governments and agencies.

If FEMA has camps, I’m sure all they’re good for is hosting Boy Scout camping trips or Civil Air Patrol mission simulations.

Of course, if I’m wrong, and it happens, I can only suggest that this speaks to the incompetence of humanity in general, which tells me that sheer numbers is the only reason we have not gone extinct…yet.

When Stupidity Murdered the Union

We the people of an impoverished nation – impoverished not for lack of wealth, assumed almost in whole by the one percent, but impoverished for lack of wisdom – declare certain truths to be self-evident, that when unlearned peoples find disparity with the election of one for whom they have no affinity and choose to demand separation of the Union on the basis of misleading notions and antiquated ideologies, surely the Nation has fallen into disgrace, thereby leaving open the question of the validity of the voice of the people, a people who, when they do not receive what they wish and determine that secession is a necessary and viable remedy for the healing of this Nation while remaining oblivious to the truth, that greed is the one prevailing power, and that greed is the one true enemy.

The above is the beginnings of a petition I would like to send out to the people of the United States who wish for their States to secede from the Union.

I think secession would be a good thing for this Union.  Why?  Come close, and I will tell you.

One book I read, “Wizard’s First Rule” by Terry Goodkind, puts it very nicely: “People are stupid; they will believe something because they want it to be true; or because they’re afraid it might be true.”

In this case, I’d say it was the former, that they want it to be true.  What is it that is not true?  That the president is the worst thing that has happened to this nation since…President George W. Bush.  Unfortunately for them, President Barack Hussein Obama is not a tyrant and he’s no Bush.  Unfortunately for the president, he has a name that makes him sound like he is a tyrant, the stigma of supposedly not being born in the US, and what’s more, the stigma of being black.

There’s been talk of secession on many occasions in this nation’s history, but the virulent hate and contempt there is for the President of the United States, a man who, for all intents and purposes, is respected by the majority of the world, and most likely because of his centrism and his cool demeanor, is not so common.  The very last time this happened – when Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States – there was a Civil War (and we know how that ended).  You can cite any reason you wish for the reasons behind the Civil War, but I find it odd that, when a revolution is brewing, and there are wars and rumors of wars, at least in the US it seems to be centered around a particular color.  Look at this logically and tell me I’m wrong.

Here’s the truth; President Obama is not the enemy.  Our willful blindness to the reality of our oh-so-great Capitalist Nation is our enemy.  The fact that we allow our politics to be determined by the people with money, that is our enemy.  The fact that people, for whatever reason, will cling to bigoted and outdated ideas and philosophies, that is our enemy.

The truth is, since the very first day President Obama was in office, he has been the subject of this seething rage.  My God, how could a man of his ilk possibly become the president?

Twice, President George W. Bush was voted into office, yet the people who supported him, his wars, and the quagmire of debt his administration helped to create, still supported him.  Why?  Because he was a ‘good ol’ boy’.  Look at this picture again and tell me I’m wrong.  People don’t even realize that it was the Right who is largely responsible for the environment wherein we find ourselves being subject to the corruption of those with vast amounts of wealth.  The Right wanted to put Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in the hands of the private sector.  We’ve seen, in Africa and South America, what happens when the private sector takes over functions that the government should be responsible for; the people suffer.  Why?  Because the private sector does not care about the people and has something to gain.  The private sector, who is currently responsible for our health insurance, is the very reason that many of us could barely afford to visit the hospital, let alone have a life saving operation without going into debt over it.  You’d be lucky if they covered you half the time.  Why is this?  Because profit is the bottom-line, not people.  The government is not out to make a profit.  That’s the direct advantage of social programs.  Call it Socialism, if you will, but I believe only the rich in such social-democratic nations as Canada and a few of the European nations may complain about ‘long wait times’ and fly to the US to get whatever operations they need done.  Why?  Because wealthy and powerful people are accustomed to instant gratification, and they are accustomed to having what they want when they want it.  They are accustomed to being able to afford such luxuries.

No, America; your enemy is not President Obama.  Your primary enemy is greed.  It’s ally is your own stupidity.

The birther movement; the rash of hate mail; threats; the murders and murder-suicides that have occurred because Barack Obama is the President of the United States; the wave of layoffs due to his re-election; and now the talk of secession and revolution, can only mean one thing, and it’s not that people are dissatisfied.  Were that the case, they would not keep voting what they’d call “the status quo” into office.  But they do, don’t they?

Political Jokes: the Big Corbowski

The video below comes from an online “show” called The Corbowski Show. It’s currently on Season 2, Ep 14. The host, who I will just refer to as the CI (the “Core of Ignorance”.  He’s also called the X-Rated Superstar, which is funny because he’s not so familiar with…certain X-Rated activities… I’d say he’s more a G-Rating, and definitely don’t mean “gangsta”… Disney is what I mean), claims to be an “educated black man who knows what the f*** I’m about and knows what I do with my education.” This came up after I responded to him when he claimed that “Blacks don’t know shit about politics anyway so everyone should shut the f*** up!” Apparently, simply reminding him that he was a black man and that, if he honestly believes what he says regarding his own race and ethnicity, he has to conclude, logically, that he also knows nothing about politics. This happens to be my case in point: that he, himself, knows nothing, whatsoever, about politics.  In fact, I don’t even believe that he’s really a Republican.

Wasn’t that fun?

Perhaps I’m picking a fight.  No, there’s no perhaps about it; I am picking a fight.  Why?  Because of the implication that I, as a black person, know nothing about politics and that I, as a black person, only voted for President Obama because he is black…

From my standpoint, his blackness has nothing to do with his ability to lead the nation and command the armed forces.  On the contrary, his blackness tends to be too big of an issue.

CI is a Republican.  There’s nothing wrong with that.  There are plenty of black Republicans, two of whom I admire greatly (Condi Rice and General Powell).  That said, there are no similarities between his brand of conservatism and theirs.  I’d peg him as a Tea Party type, but more incoherent and more extreme.  That is to say, despite his disdain for our president, in the entire two seasons his “show” has been “airing” on Facebook, the man has yet to explain what exactly his political viewpoints are.  All we can surmise for sure are the following:

  • He’s a conservative.

  • He’s a Republican.

  • He’s a birther.

  • He hates PRESIDENT Obama.

  • He thinks the world is going to hell.

  • He’s unfamiliar with swearing.

  • He’s “atheist”.

  • He expects evidence against his claims and coherent debate but can neither understand the evidence, counter-argue his own standpoint, nor recall his own words whenever he feels that an argument is getting “personal” or when he is shown to be absolutely wrong, which tends to lead him into unintelligible rantings and ravings about how very dumb liberals / Democrats are.

Of course, even though I’m singling this man out, I have to remind you that he is just one person out of millions who thinks the way he does about President Obama.  Don’t get me wrong; I don’t like everything Obama does, and if the Republican candidate had been better than Obama, I would have voted for that candidate.  The fact is, Obama outclassed the man that was chosen, and the man that was chosen consistently shot himself in the foot by broadcasting lies on top of lies even in lieu of the enormous evidence against his claims.

Romney knew what he was doing, though.  He was catering to people he knew were unable to see past the bs he spouted.  He was relying on the fact that most of the people willing to listen to him would not go and look for the information for themselves but, instead, take what he said at face value.

CI is one of them.

I had my fun with this guy.  Really, I did.  Now it’s over.  No amount of arguing on my part will serve any purpose because of the truth that people, when challenged with evidence against convictions already proven to be erroneous, will do what they can to protect their beliefs, including ignoring logic, facts, what have you.

I cannot complain, though; this is America, and everyone is entitled to their viewpoints, regardless of how misinformed they are.

Election 2012: On the Trump

Well, it looks like President Obama sealed it.  And guess who’s not pleased about that?  If you guessed Republicans, in general, of course you’re right.  What about that one guy, though, with the hair?  What’s his name?  The Donald?

Now, this is most definitely not me at my best.  In fact, it’s probably me at my most juvenile, but I couldn’t help it because, well, the Donald is nuts.  From birtherism to the incredibly inaccurate statements spouted in the 2012 election that went against all logic, this man still cannot accept the fact that a black man is in office.  Let’s call it what it is, people; ‘Trump don’t like n’s’.  Point blank.  I could see John Boehner having something substantial to say about Obama.  I can see many Republicans with honest beefs, like John McCain…  But Trump?  It’s all in the birther ideology, that a black man that made it into the highest office in the land must have done so illegitimately.

This goes well beyond race, I think.  That’s one message the Donald doesn’t seem to get.  You know, if he’d actually come out and admit to what he was, I might actually respect the man – and his hair – but let’s continue to cover it up in the thin veneer of legitimacy.

America, Mr. Trump, has spoken.

Yes, I most definitely can be crass.

The Problem with Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, 2003, the first time I realized I no longer felt that giddy joy I once had as a child.  Laying my head down on the pillow and pulling the blankets up to my chin, I fully expected to remain awake until about 4 or 5 in the morning, unable to sleep because of my anticipation of the bounty which would greet me upon my stepping off the last step to the landing which led into my father’s living room.  Where the tree waited.  With gifts.

I fell asleep immediately.  I did not wake up the next day until some time approaching noon.  When I awoke, my mind did not rush to indulge in thoughts of gifts but instead fell upon my immediate and baser need for survival.

I needed coffee.  And smokes.  Presents would most definitely have to wait until I satisfied my penchant for poisoning myself.

Fast forward to 2012.  I am a non-believer.  Even so, Christmas used to mean something to me.  I remember when the holiday season would commence; snow falls so heavy they bore tree limbs to the earth and rose to half my height of 6’5″; snowball fights and sledding down hills on dangerous makeshift sleds (like the tops of trash cans); Christmas music, both religious and secular; gingerbread houses, pumpkin pies, and candy canes; and the general air of goodwill towards our fellow human being.  At least, that is what I remember.

Today, the holiday season has become more commercialized and politically charged than ever.  It has become a subject of division between religions and political parties.  In effect, there is a War.  I will not say, however, that there is a specific War on Christmas (or, as I lovingly refer to it, the “WOC”); there is just a war.

I disagree with the War on Christmas buzzword for the simple fact that some Christians fail to take into account that the holiday season, yet another contentious phrase, is all inclusive of the holidays which occur in the November-January time frame.  There’s not just Christmas.  The holiday season commences with Halloween (I would say it actually commences with the Canadian Thanksgiving, which occurs the second Monday in October), which, believe it or not, is a Christian holiday which leads into All Saints Day and All Souls Day (1 and 2 November).  Included are such holidays as Diwali (Hindu), Calan Gaeaf (Celtic), Thanksgiving (Canadian / US), Winter Solstice (Pagan, general), Soyal (First Nation Zuni and Hopi), Satumalia (Roman), Pancha Ganapati (Hindu), Malkh (North Cacusus), Yule (Pagan, general), Hanukkah (Jewish), Kwanzaa (African-Canadian and African-American), Eid-al-Adha (Islamic), and many, many others.  For a full list, visit Category: Winter Holidays.

There was a silly argument about what the season should be called.  It used to be the Christmas season, which only spoke to the importance of Christmas versus any other holiday, and failed to recognize other faiths as equal.  To call this season the Holiday Season, today, makes perfect sense, especially given that this supposed nation of Christians has an explicit directive in the US Constitution regarding the freedom of religion (which I would imagine includes all religions).  On that argument, I think Christians are not only being greedy, but extraordinarily superficial.  It is one of those things that makes me ask, “What would Jesus do?”  Well, I can tell you what he would not do; give a flying (insert expletive beginning with the letter F).  Seriously…  I think the Jesus that I grew up with until the age of nine, the one that I read of in the Bible, would probably take issue with the fact that Christians seem to care more about semantics than the actual meaning of the Faith.

Inversely, Atheists are being very childish and big-headed about the issue.  I mean, I can understand having a problem with religion; I have a problem with religion.  What I don’t understand is the concern over seeing a nativity scene in a public place.  I don’t remember the last time I have seen a nativity scene, but I’m sure there have been some around the last several Christmases.  In fact, if I happen to catch one, I appreciate it, not because I’m religious, but because someone took the time to put it up, make it look nice, and express their feelings about the holidays.

Nobody seems to realize what the real problem with Christmas (and virtually every other holiday) is: commercialization.  These holidays, for many of us, Christian or not, do not tend to mean anything, anymore.  That is, who really celebrates Christmas because they care about the day that Jesus was born (which is not even the day that Jesus was born)?  I would contend that if people truly cared, they would toss out tradition and do the sensible thing, which is celebrating his birth around the time that it actually occurred.  I think that would solve a lot of problems off the bat.  We can segregate the holidays so nobody has to worry about going to court over a temporary scene with plastic figures just standing there in the snow.  I mean, if we are going to do this, I should also be able to go to court and demand that people who display garden gnomes remove them from any place where my eyes may fall.

We tend to focus on the wrong things in most of the social issues that come up in this once-great nation.  So commences the WOC, mostly because people are blind to the truth, in general.  Maybe one day we will all forget semantics and general butthurtedness and remember what fights are actually worth fighting.

Kindling for the Flames: Burning the Constitution

My friends, I would like to run something by you.  It pertains to the US Constitution.  It appears that it has become all but irrelevant.  I suggest we burn the US Constitution.

Now, before you get upset by my suggestion, hear me out; we should burn things that have lost their relevance.  There is no point in bringing up the US Constitution anymore because it is essentially ineffective due to the fact that it is ignored by many of those in positions of power.  So, why not just get rid of it?  It is an old, slowly decaying doctrine that no longer has a place among our laws.  My friends, the Constitution is dead, and it deserves a proper funeral, and what better way to send it off than burning it to the ashes it already stands for?

Did you know that there are 29 states in our great Union that allow the evictions of people based solely on whether their gay (including LGBT)?  Did you know, too, that in some of these states, you can be fired for the same reason?

This is why we should burn the Constitution:

Section 1.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

We ignore this and various other amendments every single day.  Do you understand my reasoning, now?  Do you understand why I think we should burn the Constitution of the United States of America?  I would suggest the alternative; obviously, living up to the words outlined in this document is much too difficult for a people who so value their freedom that they are willing to restrict the rights of others for the sake of their own (and at times, even have their own rights restricted).

So Many Trumps, So Little Time..

Good news!  The Donald is at it again.

There are many things that I have seen and heard in my day that strike me as a bit odd, perhaps asinine and clearly ignorant.

Below, for your viewing pleasure, is a video posted by the Donald on his Youtube page.  I would say go ahead and leave a comment, but the man is at least smart enough to know that this is going to be subject to a backlash.  Please feel free to comment and voice your opinions on my post, regardless of opinion.

The man’s audacity is admirable (aside from being astounding).  In fact, it is so admirable that he should author a book and call it “The Audacity of Ignorance.”  The title is appropriate for a man so full of pomposity and so devoid of integrity and common sense.

I believe that I am witnessing a very disturbing trend in the United States.  It is the same old racism, but it has taken on a new form; it is not so overt as it was in the ‘good ol’ days’, when the ‘good ol’ boys’ at least had the nerve to tell someone of color they did not like what they thought of them.  Now, their scions are attempting to subvert the minds of those who are poor and white, painting a picture of a man who achieved something nobody of his hue or darker should be able to achieve in as negative a light as possible when all the evidence available suggests otherwise.

In the last four years, President Obama has been everything from a terrorist, to a closet Muslim; from non-citizen to not ever having held a job; from Iran and China sympathizer to the third antichrist.  Obama, apparently, is singularly responsible for the economic collapse that we have experienced (even though he was not even president when it occurred), both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and for the existence of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and a supposed mishandling on his part of the various revolutions which occurred during the Arab Spring.

Of course, the issue that seems to be the highest priority for most people that do not like President Obama is that of his birth and, thus, his legitimacy, which lends itself to the fact that this man, who is incidentally black, was disliked from the beginning not because he was a bad person or did not have the credentials to be president, but simply because he is not the right color for the office which he now holds.  It is sad that, from the beginning, the aim of the Republican Party was to make President Obama “a one term president”, as opposed to enacting legislation which would benefit the common man and woman who had to take the hit for the dirty business dealings of Wallstreet bankers, investors, and their cohorts.  Some would argue that Mitch McConnell’s statement was taken out of context, which he only meant this in the context of the President meeting the Republicans halfway and, if not, not doing business with him.  I disagree.  Why?  I disagree on the grounds that if this were true, the Republicans would not have done so much to oppose those things which would have made a real difference.  On McConnell’s part, I would venture to say that he simply does not like Democrats.  Fair enough.  On the parts of the others, like the Donald, the racism is obvious.

In fact, for anyone to argue that this is not racism on the parts of certain elements within the government or with other affiliations to the Republican Party in specific, I would have to question the validity of their humanity.  One would have to be willful in their ignorance to miss just what exactly is going on, especially when this birther issue keeps trying to rear its ugly head and override more important concerns.

I would like to point out the hypocrisy of birtherism.   Birtherism only questions one thing: the birthplace of the president.  It does not question policy.  It does not question ethics.  It does not question real issues.  Even when handed proof, it continues to question the validity of that proof.  It is akin to taking your notarized birth certificate to your local DMV to get your driver’s license and the clerk telling you that, despite the proof you have of your identity, he or she is not going to provide you with the license because they simply do not believe in the validity of your documents.  Birtherism is a fool’s philosophy best suited to those who are unwilling to think for themselves and indulge in common sense and logic.  It is funny that, with all the outright lies that people in the Romney camp have told, the most important issue of the day is where President Obama was born after he has already proven what these buffoons were clamoring for him to prove.

A gentleman on Facebook made this comment:

In order to get the type of security clearance that you have to have to be president there is no stone unturned when it comes to being cleared. If the president was hiding anything he wouldn’t have been cleared to be our president. This is just rhetoric to try and distract the stupid, naive voters from the truth.  J.T.

A Statement from Donald Trump

He may be one of the few in the US that actually considered this fact.  Having been in the military and having gone through the process of getting a clearance, as well as being involved with those who had to do the same, I know that this is a fact.  The POTUS could not get a Top Secret Security Clearance without the FBI or whomever else is involved needing to know everything and anything about the man.

Why should one think twice before taking the Donald seriously?  Well, there is his slew of wives, which suggests the fact that he cannot maintain honest relationships.  There is his currently bankrupt businesses.  There is the fact that his hair could double as my mop.  There is the fact that he is a rich man who is as self serving as other rich men.  He is the elite.  He is the one percent.  To illustrate further the inherent racism and the devisive nature of the Donald’s campaign, look at this video on White Privelege from Tim Wise:
